A Word From the Vicar
“For over two centuries, generations have gathered here in faith, worship, and fellowship. May this historic parish continue to shine as a beacon of Christ’s love—a place where faith is nurtured, lives are blessed, and His light is carried forward to generations yet to come.”
Rev. Babu P. Kulathackal
Vicar, Elanthoor Mar Thoma Valiya Pally
Our Story

Rooted in Tradition,
Growing in Grace

The history of Elanthoor Marthoma Valiya Pally began on 18 September 1817 (Kollavarsham 993, Kanni 2), when Punnathra Kurian Ramban erected and blessed a cross on the land donated by Mahakavi Chekott Kuruvila Asan for the construction of the church. Known first as St. Mary’s and then as Kumaranalloor Church, it stands today as Elanthoor Mar Thoma Valiyapally. Thazhayil Skaria Kathanar, who provided strong leadership in the formation of the parish, served as its first vicar.

More than two centuries later, the same congregation gathers for the Holy Qurbana, and teaches its children in five Sunday School centres, and serves the village around it.

The Old Church is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. For many people, it is a place of peace and comfort—a quiet space where a troubled heart can find rest. Come, spend a moment in God’s presence, and lay down your worries and burdens before Him.
